A grey fog - that's it! Your idea of getting communications people to analyze what's needed and what can be actually supported is very helpful. I'll pass it on to our co-chairs (actually one is me, so I'm half-way there) for our upcoming retreat.

In my experience (43 years of UU ministry) what congregations want as far as communications go, and what they need or would most benefit from, are often two very different things. What can be enormously helpful is an analysis by experienced communications folks as to what is needed, and what would be strongly advantageous, in priority order, and what current resources actually support. This helps a congregation decide whether to assign more resources to communications. Mostly, otherwise, they're in a sort of grey fog about it all.
